“If you don’t turn your life into a story, you just become a part of someone else’s story.”
Scott and Bailey have another excellent adventure in the fourth episode of their fourth series, in which a woman is found drowned in a hotel bathroom, Rachel is dating a superindentent (which is bad, apparently), and Gill accidentally informs Rachel that Janet was first choice for the sergeantship.
As usual, the focus here is not necessarily on the mystery itself (although that, as it happens, is quite interesting without being implausible) but upon the various working methods of the team and, yes, the tensions between them. Rachel and Janet’s friendship is becoming somewhat strained and this impacts upon the rest of the office, as Janet and Gill have a falling-out (interesting to see how differently Gill treats Janet as opposed to Rachel). It’s another well-executed, realistic episode which makes excellent evening viewing without the guilt factor.
